In recent months, expectations of low growth for the Chilean economy have materialized. Average annual growth according to the Imacec (monthly index of economic activity) stands at 2.2% through August of this year. This progressive weakness has even led the Central Bank of Chile to cut its growth forecast for the economy on several occasions; in the latest Monetary Policy Report (IPoM), that forecast was set in a range of 2–2.5% for this year and 2.5–3.5% for 2016.
