    Abstract

    A key question in the current economic environment is whether the moderate growth of the Chilean economy stems from a one-off situation or reflects a longer-term trend. To grasp this difference in simple terms, suppose that Chile is a large firm whose profitability is its annual GDP growth rate; then growth of 3% versus growth of 6% would mean that, in ten years, cumulative GDP would be 25% lower.
