Even after the national holidays, the debate sparked by the release of the poverty figures is still alive in the press. There are two underlying issues that go beyond the handling of the Casen survey (National Socioeconomic Characterization Survey) and that have already been present in the media on other occasions. The first is to define the ethical standards that government authorities should observe in managing and reporting information relevant to citizens; the second is to establish which mechanisms or protocols guarantee that information from administrative databases or public surveys is reliable and available to the public.
