      Abstract

      On June 1, 2012, the regulation capping the level of debt permitted on loans granted by the Cajas de Compensación y Asignación Familiar (CCAF, Chile’s family allowance and welfare funds) came into force. This change is part of the parliamentary and public debate on the abusive practices evident in the provision of solidarity loans, whether to their affiliated pensioners or to their affiliated workers.
