    Abstract

    July, August, and September are typically difficult months for China because of the strong, moisture-laden winds known as typhoons that batter the
    country. This year, another cloud was added to the usual ones, but this one came from the economic sphere. Although initial observations make it possible to rule out a downturn in Chinese activity that could put its trading partners and the world economy at risk, the effects of the typhoon on a system that has grown steadily over the past two decades at rates close to—and, in some periods, above—double digits will entail an adjustment in medium-term projections for Chile and exemplary planning at the microeconomic level.
