    Abstract

    A major question hanging over the central banks and finance ministries of the emerging world is how the slow recovery of the industrialized countries will affect their economies. A complex economic environment appears to be taking shape for the emerging economies: on the one hand, the sluggishness of the industrialized economies is bound to be transmitted to the emerging ones, which does not help global growth given the decline in international trade.
