Doing Business is a World Bank initiative that seeks to measure, in a comparable manner, business regulations in 189 different countries. The project includes ten categories with different indicators: starting a business; dealing with construction permits; getting electricity; registering property; getting credit; protecting minority investors; paying taxes; trading across borders; enforcing contracts; and resolving insolvency. To cite one example, the starting-a-business category measures the procedures, time, and monetary costs that an entrepreneur interested in creating and registering a company must incur.
